Best route to Cork

Heading off in the morning for the west Cork P.I trip
I was just wondering the best route to go
I looked on the sat nav and it tells me to head towards dublin and down that way
And one of those route finder things tells me to go for Galway and down that way
Anyone gone these route and what would you suggestCathal

I’d try Sligo – Galway – Ennis – Limerick – Cork
Coming across country to get on a good road will prob be a waste of time. I think there’s a toll on the N8 coming from Portlaoise/Dublin??

there is a toll indeed. around Mitchelstown.
but it’s well worth IMO.
it’s August and the chances of finding some tourist on that western road are high. then it might make sense going thru Belfast, Dublin then N8…Cathal,
If you do come down by Portlaoise, its motorway almost all the way to Cork.
1 toll road at €1.80 each way. You’ll fly down to Cork.Go under the Jack Lynch tunnell and which will bring you onto the South Link (dual carraigeway).
Keep on going straight through 2 roundabouts (Sarsfield Rd and Bandon Rd roundabouts). Whatever you
do don’t go on the Kinsale Rd roundabout or take a lane on the dual carraige way to the Airport.Take a left on the Bandon Rd roundabout and you’ll see signs for Bandon/Clonakilty/Skibbereen etc…
Keep on straight until you hit (18 mls approx) Bandon.
There is a roundabout at the near side of Bandon, left is the bypass, take that and go straight
up the hill and down the other side.
You’ll see a T-junction (my house is just the turn off before it) take a right to the roundabout,
Then a left at the roundabout and straight on into Clonakilty (12mls)
Pretty much straight on to Skibb from there.Luckily you have sat nav :D as I’ll only get you lost :D
