on the way home…

jessthespringerParticipant
I took this a few weeks ago, on my way home from work. A bit different for me.
Sinead
MartinParticipantThats a class shot, one of the better landscapes I have seen on here in a while. The light hitting the land scape is superb and the clouds are excellent.
Almost lofi looking with the darkened sides, suits the picture
This view looking south is possibly my favorite way of seeing the Mournes
Think I have seen this shot before possibly on your F or maybe its dejavous…
M
jessthespringerParticipantThanks Martin. I used it in a montage thing a few weeks ago on flickr, titled ‘all in a days work’ a sort of mini doc of my day.
I kept coming back to this one though.I think the 10-20 gave a bit of a vignette, but I added a little also.
My favorite view of the Mournes too. This is right where I work, (at the weekends), so I’m lucky.

Liam2673ParticipantHas a very classic look to it, like a colour photo from the early days of photography when there was very little colour taken. Very nice and super light.
b318ispParticipantThe wide angle has given a nice lead-in effect on the outer clouds to reinforce the vignette too.
aoluainParticipantYes it does look a little LO-FI !
I like this too but not saturated enough for me.
Beautiful light captured, makes it look like a model.
Alan
BrickerParticipantjb7ParticipantEm, the sky looks a funny colour, and it’s not posted in sRGB,
so I suppose I shouldn’t comment on that-Nice light on the fields, might have liked to see some more of that-
but it looks like you might have wanted to omit something from the foreground-Good picture though-
j
CliveMCLParticipantlovely shot, and the clouds help to draw your eye into the central foremost hill. It seems a little dull though. Maybe just personal taste. The shy is fine, maybe if the green in the foreground was pulled out a bit more it would give more impact to the sunlight hitting it…
jessthespringerParticipantThanks for the comments all, wasn’t expecting this much response.
Re the colour, I think I have a poor understanding of colour, but, I’m trying and I’m trying to find a colour processing style that I like,
something like Liam’s description (thank you very much). Not sure I’m quite there yet.I know what you mean about the saturation Alan, but too much saturation in pictures makes me feel a bit sick.
Joseph – Oh dear, how embarrassing, not quite sure how I made that mistake! I checked in PS Image>Mode>RGB I don’t have an option for sRGB.
The foreground was just a bit boring I thought.Clive – Dull? Really? I hadn’t noticed, maybe because I was trying to keep the Highlights in check.
Thanks again all. Much appreciated.
Sinead
RobMemberThe foreground, eh?
Foregrounds are overrated…
I thought the colour a little odd too, but it does suit. As previously mentioned,
it does have that lofi look to it. What really shocked me though was the idea
of you using digital. That craving for instant gratification just had to catch up
on you eventually… ;)suspectmonkeyMemberjessthespringer wrote:

I assume Joseph was referring to fact that the photo was uploaded to the web with ProPhoto RGB colour profile as opposed to sRGB? When I click File > Save As I can choose to embed a colour profile for sRGB. Same with if I am exporting a photo from LR, under Image Settings I make sure the Colour Space is set to sRGB. That said, anyone viewing the image in Safari or a browser that supports colour profiles should see the same as you do… provided of course their monitor/your monitor is calibrated :)
Opps, sorry, how did I get on to that? Sorry, probs giving already known advice were it ain’t needed
As for the photo, for me its a stunner. Love the processing, love the light, love the composition, think you’ve hit a real nice style with this colour photo thing ;) The border and pano style feels quite Colin Prior-ish to me, like it. Find it very interesting reading through your EXIF, you put minus values were I would put plus values but it really works.
jessthespringerParticipantRob – Thank you. I had the dslr before I got into film, I like using both and yes, I do like the instant thing about it.
And here you all are tellintg me it looks LoFi… hehe…suspectmonkey wrote:

Jon – Good information and advice there (I didn’t know, what I don’t know about photography would fill an Olympic sized swimming pool) Thanks very much.
Thanks for the comments on the picture too. Glad you liked the exif
