Castle Hacket -colour or b+w-

Took this this evening, was bored and headed out
    for a bit of snapping.

13th century tower house about 3 miles from me house.
Processed to simulate an “Orton Effect” and converted to
    B+W.

Definatly in colour for me. Have you altered the sky? It looks great, but something tells me it isn’t exactly how you shot it. Is this the ‘Orton Effect’ you talk about? What is that btw?

The B&W for me, colours in the colour shot look a bit too green for me, looks like a soft focus effect also which im not mad on….

I don’t know about this Orthon Effect, Alan, what’s the deal with it? Looks a bit like LoFi, but much less charming.
Not sure about the green either, a bit loud and overpowering, for my taste. Black and white for me.

Sorry if that’s a bit harsh.

Oh I’m glad someone else was harsh before me-
I wouldn’t have said anything at all-

Maybe there’s a place for this bit of processing,
but I’m not sure this picture is it-

Not sure that it’s a landscape either, another cause for confusion-

Ultimately, I don’t think you had the best light,
maybe that’s where the processing comes in?

not a big fan of this ‘soft focus’ effect, but I much prefere the b/w one.
do you have an horizontal version of this? the sky/grass are not very interesting…

    Thanks for the replies,

I thought the orton effect suited this scene which
should have been in the arch. section all right.

Thought I would give that effect a go . . . digitally of course, info below.

The sky in the colour version is a little blue all right, well bluer than it was
and the greens, well I dont mind them but I can see the pointers all right,
maybe a slight warm up for the foreground would take away some of the green!

    Thanks again
