I wondered what was the general awareness of dye sublimation thermal printing with the members of the forum?
I realise that inkjet is going to be the most common printing method, but for those in business, selling prints to the public, perhaps as Event photographers it is worth considering for a number of reasons, mainly that of speed and efficiency.
I’m not sure what info you are looking for but as you rightly said they are the industry standard for event photography and most photo kiosks. They build up an image using a ribbon (Donor) with a separate yellow, magenta and cyan pass and most of them then add a protection/UV layer which is applied to a special paper. They prints are considered long life and stable. They tend to be high volume reliable printers and weigh in at around the 20-30 KG weight. I have a 6″x8″ printer and I have calibrated it with the Colorvision Spyder Print and it prints beautiful prints every 20 seconds.
Have a look at the Fuji Ask series printers and if you need one or need further info just give me a ring.
