Its a lovely building, I was there a couple of years ago, and you captured it well.
The 3 layers sit together well: the textured sky, plain foreground and vibrant building.
    Good sense of scale, nice.

    As Martin said,
and tiny bit off the left maybe, for balance.

Nicely taken. Great exposure. And very sharp.

I have come back to this a few times. It is a very good shot…. Martin summed it up well with the balance and complimenting layers.

I’ve seen this happen before where a seemingly perfectly centered shot was throw off by the content. Last time it was a deck of a cruise ship and two deck chairs were missing on one side and that threw the balance off. I think what’s happening here is the trees to the right side are giving the eye a skewed effect. If you copy them to the other side just to see, or alternatively remove them. I’d never let myself get hung up on it though.

I think for the work you did, you placed yourself well, framed it well, post processed well and you got a good picture in the end.

    ..what an eye

Not really, I just counted the windows in the arcades on either side. 4.5 < 5.5 :)

I am not going to change it. I just find it funny. Pixelle is right. The picture is off center by a fraction of a mm :) And I knew why..the arcades on either side.
Would you believe I got this shot handheld, camera in one hand ( D700+Nikon 24-70 f/2.8+Grip+SB900 for fill flash..just in case)…while the other hand was holding a 3 year old desperate to go see the horses.I was surprised to see that the result was somehow decent enough to be kept.
I always meter for the sky and then depends on the scene and available light I underexpose a bit. I presume the full sensor did its job here. The only post processing was to blur a bit the foreground (pavement to sharp..damn good Nikon lens :) ) and to bring a bit of light into the facade.
Oh..and by the way. I used Capture NX. This shot opened in Lightroom would have been discarded. Every day I am amazed with the HUGE difference between the two.

    Thank you all. :D
