Carrauntoohill reflected in Lough Gouragh, 12 Sep 09. A glorious day in The Reeks. I ascended Carrauntoohill via O’Shea’s Gully which is up on the right of the lake. That route is far more interesting than the Devil’s Ladder tourist route which is heavily eroded. I descended via The Ladder but it was tough going.
This is excellent John, I’m super jealous  . Next time you’re going up you should come down via the heavenly gates, similar to Brother O’Sheas and much better than the devils ladder. The views are stunning also.
As regards the settings: Canon 5D, Canon 17-40L, 1/15 sec f/11. Marumi polariser. Monopod. RAW.
Post processing: just basic Levels, slight Hue/Saturation adjustment, slight Curves tweak.
Lough Gouragh is one of the best locations in the Hag’s Glen from which to photograph the mountain and yet many people pass it by unnoticed on their way to the Devil’s Ladder ascent route. Just make sure you have a wide angle lens and get there early in the day.
