Credit for use of photo

  Hi,

  i have been ask if one of my shots can be used in an upcoming book, it
  is a book about emerging irish bands, the shots is from a live show for one
  of the bands.
  the auther has asked how i would like to be credited. this is how it was worded
  (“how would you like to be credited? Do you go by Rod Red or Robert O’Donovan?”)

  what is the norm for this? should i ask to be paid for the shot or a copy of the book etc.
  any help much appreciated.

  I would have thought they should have asked you “how much do you want to get paid” as well as credited. Are you known as Rod Red or Robert O’Donovan? Use whatever name you’d like to be known as.

  Totally agree.
  They have asked about ‘using’ one of YOUR images here, so a fee for that use needs to be agreed along with the T&C’s of use.
  The 3 main things to clearly state when quoting a fee are: Media use, Period of use and Territory… thereby avoiding any misunderstandings down the road.

  The (Licence) fee is for the use of the image which you created and therefore, own the copyright to.

  You also have the RIGHT to ask for your name to be credited alongside the image too.

  cheers for the feed back guys, it sounds like to me that they just want to use the photo and
  credit the shot with my name.
  a free copy of the book might be all that i copuld expect. ill suss it out
