Too many shots..
-
AllinthemindParticipant
How many shots do you show the couple after a wedding? I recently shot a wedding with around 450 shots that I was happy with. The father of the bride wasn’t there for most of it as one of the cousins knocked him out ( a long running family thing I think). This stopped play for about 2 hours while the B&G composed themselves.
I used to whittle the shots down to around 150 but found that the B&G often picked shots that I wouldn’t etc. The problem is, the more shots you show them, the more time it all takes.

Above 80 odd shots that they printed. It always helps to have a small bridesmaid to keep the adults in check.. :)

I edited this to point to a different wedding as it’s filling my error logs since I deleted the wedding from my website… I hope you enjoy this different wedding.
johnnymcParticipantAbsolutely cracking set of images! Beautiful composition and lighting, well done.
450 shots is an awful lot to show alright. Do you process them all before showing them?

John

Thanks John.
I select out the duplicates and duffers, then colour and contrast correct the rest (takes about 2-3 hours).
Convert to B&W those shots that I had in mind for B&W (I usually expose these a bit more).
Then select a storytelling slideshow set (around 120).
Then show them the lot and let them decide if they want any editing/tweaking.
Print them 30 10x8s.
Prepare a CDDone.

brownieParticipantSome of the best wedding shots that I have seen in years…brilliant lighting,
great composition and overall as good as any wedding photos that you would
ever hope to see…I imagine the B&G were thrilled with these…the photos just
hit you in the face….anyone that takes wedding photos and I am one of those
will trawl through all the websites that they can find looking to see how others
do it but in future I will always go back to yours for inspiration. The day I know was lovely, which helped but thanks for sharing these with us
and any weddings you do in the future will be eagerly looked at as well.Noel Browne.
DeeboParticipantLovely shots and the ones on the site are very good.
Esp this one: http://www.allinthemind.info/weddings/zowiewebs/content/DSC_7947_large.html and love the one with the funny faces http://www.allinthemind.info/weddings/zowiewebs/content/DSC_8271_large.htmlA great touch of humour to the day.
AllinthemindParticipantThanks Noel, an unexpectedly lovely thing to read!
I saw your landscape shots, fabulous colours, are you boosting these in post or are they velvia shots? I’m rubbish at non-people shots.

Thanks Deebo.. Yes the sunset that night was glorious, just an off-camera flash through a small brollie.
All best

BrianParticipantloustalotphotographyParticipantMy answer to this question will be : all is in the contract. When I shot a wedding, I agree with et B&G what I will cover and how much photos they can expect.
Another aspect is your style. The trend is reportage wedding photography and of course you will take more picture than our grand parent’s photographers.
An average of 300 pictures for 3 hours work is OK. I insist : how much pictures your parents have of their wedding ? And don’t forget that’s a big day for your clients and of course they expect a lot of memories – but everyone has to be pragmatic. They have a limited budget to spend and you have to make a profit at the end of the day.
By the way, good job and which you success and joy in the business.
SALCONMemberthese are what i call inspiration………..nicest wedding photos i have seen
SodafarlMemberSi, yup there swith siome of the best wedding pictures I have seen. What I see here are 2 different albums a colour and a B&W with the B&W being outstanding. Picture No 7466 is fabulous. they must be extremely happy with the choice and God help them whittling them down.
