A cracking set Paul. The lighting looks really great.. combined with the dark backgrounds these really have an extra pop.
paulParticipantI think I’m going to have to sell my 300mm f/2.8 and upgrade to a 400mm lens. It is just so different. I want, I want.
I’m very happy with the images I got yesterday, and am looking forward to Wed now.
Croke Park is always a joy to shoot in.
5faytheParticipantHi Paul,
You have done really well here.
The only quibble I would have is the missing legs in #1 but
all in all a fine set of shots.Cheers.
John.

They were just way too close to me to fit their legs in. Besides, it’s images like that which are frequently used in print.

Hi Paul,
I presume you mean newspapers and of course you are right.
Those pictures would stand up against any you would see in the papers today.I only was only commenting on #1 as a stand alone picture.
Well done.
John.
kensutzParticipantThe 400mm is a beast and anyone who holds one will want one. I should have mine in a week or 2.
Saint_MelMemberpetereoinMemberPaul,
Superb action shots, the quality is outstanding, thanks for sharing
JonathanCurranParticipantJust a side question.

Did ye get a good deals?

I just need to sell my 300mm f/2.8 first. Any offers?? :D
The 400mm is a beast, but is just stunning for a large pitch.
Rebel RedMemberThe 400 can be a bit tight in some situations (most LoI grounds in the country) more so because of he crop factor on the camera. 400 is great for GAA or when pushed back from pitch – like in Croker. But be careful, make sure it suits for your daily work not just the odd international. I use a 400 with a full frame body which works out great, but I found it way too hard when having the 1.5 crop factor of a DX body when covering soccer or rugby.
Funny thing – I remember Paul and Ken recommending I get a 300 a while back – glad I didnt listen lads……lol
Fantastic lens, hardly use anything else these days – as my chiropractor!!!!
Well done lads – keep it up (ye’ll probably have to to pay back the cost of the new family member!!!)
