THE IMPOSSIBLE PROJECT
INSPIRES POLAROID® TO
RELAUNCH INSTANT CAMERAS
Dear Supporter of The Impossible Project, the pleasure is all ours to herewith inform you about the latest and likewise groundbreaking news regarding our quest to keep Instant Photography alive by re-inventing a new analog integral film for vintage Polaroid cameras.
Already holding the first working hand-coated samples in our trembling hands, we are pleased to herewith announce an epoch making cooperation between Polaroid (who can no longer resist the stir we are making) and The Impossible Project:
The new licensee of the Polaroid Brand – The Summit Global Group – will re-launch the legendary Polaroid One Step Camera and is therefore commissioning The Impossible Project to develop and produce a limited edition of Polaroid branded Instant Films in the middle of 2010.
We are proud and excited that our ambitions and all the relentless work we have already invested are now becoming the foundation for Polaroid’s comeback as a producer of Instant Cameras.
Large-scale production and worldwide sale of The Impossible Project’s new integral film materials under its own brand will already start in the beginning of 2010 – with a brand new and astonishing black and white Instant Film and the first colour films to follow in the course of the year.
At this point we would like to thank every single one of your for all your overwhelming support so far- THANK YOU! It’s fair to say that we wouldn’t be where we are now if it was not for all your help.
MarkKeymasterMartinParticipantGood to hear that this is going to happen,
Have to admit I have never shot a Polaroid :-)
I have enjoyed shooting Fuji’s instant film’s on a Polaroid back I have but never the real thing so looking forward to itIt will be interesting seeing what the price is going to be as I think this will decide if people will buy it or not after the buzz of the initial 6 months after its made available again…

davedunneParticipantI am excited that there will be new film again although I am sure the “limited edition” Polaroid branded film that TIP will be making will be very expensive once it gets to the secondary market (ie. eBay). I hope that TIPs own branded film will have a more reasonable price. I am really looking forward to the B&W integral film.
…will re-launch the legendary Polaroid One Step Camera
I don’t understand the new Polaroid camera though. Aren’t there millions of unused Polaroid cameras out there already?
jb7ParticipantI don’t think it’ll make much difference to me,
although it will be good if it fits the SX70-The Fuji instant is a superior pack film anyway, and is still available-
better colour, better reciprocity characteristics, cheaper-
so the availability of these films will hardly affect me at all- personally-There’s no talk of remaking the best film- Type 55, so I can’t bring myself to get excited about this, I’m afraid-
though I can see how it’s a good thing…francescoParticipantGizzo wrote:
