Hav’nt seen a good scary type movie since SAW.
But the one movie which scared the Bejeyzuz out of me
was HELLRAISER & HELLRAISER II from the late 80’s.started watching this after it was released on me own, had to turn it off
and watch it during the day . . . :twisted:jb7ParticipantSodafarlMemberCarrie and Friday the 13th for the endings.
When I was about 7 year old seen Darby O’Gill and the little people the Banshee scared the Sh1te out of me and I was afraid to go home in broad daylight.Soda
KPMParticipantJust bough the DVD yesterday of Salems Lot – the one with David Soul (Hutch !).
That was a real brown trouser one when it first came out and have to admit, the old blood suckers
are still very creepy. My eldest who is “into” Vampires (I blame Twilight) legged it at the first sight
of the kid scraping on the window. Will be watching the second part later tonight.
P.S. – Another scary blast from the past was a second Stephen King story – IT – never liked clowns since.

miki gParticipantFunny or scarey? :D The excorcist (Classic), Devil’s advocate. And even Amytiville horror. I still get the creeps from that kid in Salems lot.

THE HITCHER is a classic, indeed Joseph.
JEEPERS CREEPERS was also a recent scary one
white knuckle stuff . . . great entertainment!Alan RossiterParticipantjb7 wrote:
The Hitcher, with Rutger Hauer…
Who can forget the finger in the fries.
Jeepers Creepers was a good one especially when he was posing as a scarecrow.
But the one that made me pay attention was Signs and in particular the excerpt where they showed a kids party and one of the visitors walked through the scene. Not a horror but definitely nail biting stuff.
One that made me jump as a kid was “The Evil Dead”…gruesome and jumpy.
Alan.
PS – My scariest picture – Zoltan, the baldie.
jessthespringerParticipantCan’t believe nobody has mentioned it already. The Shining. Can’t watch it by myself. Very scary. Cool cinematography though.
The movie itself was pretty so so, but the closing scene of the Blair Witch Project was very chilling.
And, loads of people thought it was a rubbish film, but, The Grudge, scared the hell out of me. The idea that when a terrible thing happens in a place, that it is somehow embedded there forever, well, that’s a very simple way of freaking people out. And, all that black hair coming down from the celling… !!! Scary.
The first 10 mins of Scream is pretty damn scary too. Pity about the rest of it though.
The Ring and The Omen (original) they’re pretty scary too.
These are probably more chilling than scary.
The Silence of the Lambs and Se7en
This is a the top hit of Google scariest movies of all time.

Cool thread Alan…
JodyParticipantI was getting towards the end of the thread and equally stunned there was no mention of The Shining too Jess. I was actually sweating watching that the first time I was so scared. Its a great great movie though.
bingbongbiddleyParticipantjohnnymcParticipantThere was a wizard in Wanderly Wagon that scared the sh*$e out of me. Thirty years later, I’m not over him!!!
MartinOCParticipantIt was Salem’s Lot for me too, no other films had such an effect on me.

nfl-fanParticipantFilms that depict natural disasters that will result in the end of civilization scare me the most.
They can make you stop and think… and worry a bit too.
Imagine sitting at home with your family waiting for some natural force to end the world… urghh… creepy.
