French footballer – offensive and unprofessional
-
BMParticipant
I was disgusted by Henry last night. Totally unprofessional.
Anybody remember the (very) old days, when the player would raise his hand in acknowledgement/apology? This happens in most sports.
Why is there no arrangement with such a large and rich organisation as FIFA for such outrageous fouls to be brought to the attention of the ref via an additional official using TV footage – either during the match or afterwards?
I’m a bit surprised that my rant is the first!!
nfl-fanParticipantT’was a sickener… if we’d have lost to a legit goal then no problem, but that was hard to take last night.
But ranting about it will change nothing… it will fall on deaf ears at FIFA.
I suppose what Henry says is true… he’s not the referee… and cheating is becoming a regular part of the game.
But something has to change in soccer… video playback with each manager allowed 2 challenges per game or the like. All these bad refereeing decisions and mistakes is really turning me off the game.

jb7ParticipantBusiness as usual-
If FIFA wanted to have a fairer game,
they could have overhauled the refereeing process years ago-
with the addition of TV officials-As it is, it just smacks of more cynical big business-
I’m surprised the fans stand up for it-The ref had a good game, apart from that one detail, I think-
and his career has been spoiled too, as a result of the policy of the governing body-If there was in interest in achieving fair results,
overturning decisions based on video evidence would be in place already-damiendParticipantMaybe if FAI shouted loud enough

BMParticipantHad FIFA not introduced an additional official for each penalty area precisely to avoid these things happening?
nfl-fanParticipantNo, I don’t believe they have BM (yet).
It’s still 1 ref, 2 linesmen and the 4th official (the guy that stands there a listens to the managers rant throughout the game and does f* all else).

when was the last time the goal scorer was omitted?France 1-1 Republic of Ireland (first leg 1-0)
Goals: William Gallas 103 (France); Robbie Keane 32 (Republic of Ireland)The story of the game
Hosts France were kept completely quiet in the first half by an Ireland team burning with passion, conviction and the desire to battle for every ball. Robbie Keane’s strike not long after the half-hour was just reward for the efforts the visitors had put in and it took heroics from France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris to limit the damage to one goal. Les Bleus came into the contest after the break but remained vulnerable to Irish attacks, meaning the tie had to be resolved in extra time, when William Gallas equalised to send his team through to their fourth consecutive finals. The key moment
After 180 hard-fought minutes, the fate of both teams was decided by a moment of drama in extra time. The outcome remained in the balance until the very last second, and when the final whistle was blown the disappointed Irish could hold their heads up high. The man of the match
France have long been looking for a successor to Fabien Barthez and they have found the perfect candidate in Hugo Lloris. In this game, as in the opening leg, the Lyon No1 bolstered his burgeoning reputation with a string of top-class saves.jb7ParticipantBMParticipantdamiend wrote:

That was a technical error on the part of the referee, not an unseen foul.
If the French football authorities are sportsmanlike to any extent, they will offer a rematch.
… and guillotine Henry The Cheat.
nfl-fanParticipant… and guillotine Henry The Cheat.
Oh no… not another thread about public executions…

of this years Europa Cup (ex UEFA Cup).John.
