Widescreen wedding

This couple asked me to do some formal 10x8s and then do my own thing for the candids. We liked the idea of some widescreen black and whites…

I’m interested in the views on the widescreen shots, they can fit nicely in an album and print/hang well for a wall.

    Many thanks for looking

The whole shoot cab be found here: http://www.allinthemind.info/weddings/AC/index.html

    Hi Si
This is a really strong set, I really like these even if the last is not mono but it has a nice warmth to it.
Second shot is my fave, I think its great

Thanks Dee. The bride made the dresses herself and insisted on this one in colour, hehe.

    Me dancing with the groom!

Hi Si. The whole set looks good to me. I love the one with the candle (B&W).
ps Wouldn’t the bride dance with you?

A great set , really like the one with the candle for some reason can’t think of anything but Casablanca. The boy in the first looks like he is in for a terrible hiding you can almost guess what his mum is saying

    Hi Si,

I am very impressed with this set and enjoyed the ones on your link too.

    Well done.

Fantastic pictures. 2 and 4 would be my favourites but they’re all great. Anyone would be proud to show these off to family, friends etc. Big well done :)

    Very good-
    some nice ones there,
although a couple I may not have shown-
but these things always work as a set, and we’re only given glimpses of the narrative-

The first picture, for example, might mean something to those concerned,
as a document of the day, but might not perhaps make a top ten-

always a difficult thing to do anyway, with so much going on…

    The wide thing works well-

The format actually works really well – it really emphaises thirds.

Wedding photos, when you don’t know the people involved, can be incredibly boring. The moments captured above will only mean anything to them really. The couples always tell me “These are the best wedding pictures that we’ve ever seen”, but strangely only their wedding. :) This wedding was about capturing the little things, the mini-stories.

    All best

Probably 24-70 Nikon lens, maybe 70-300VR for some of them.

I like the set, and maybe they will love #1 but I find myself thinking “The groom is waiting, nervous, shares a grin with the best man to keep his nerve, and there is a lady bringing out a bold child…” If the aisle was empty, I think it would be a very strong image as I’d be looking for the bride…..

on the other hand, if they know the lady in aisle, they will have a good laugh but probably not want to hang it on their wall, which is a pity – it’s a great shot other than that.
