Monitor for photo editing, advice needed

I’m just after ordering my pc parts for my first pc build for photo editing, the only part left to order is the monitor. Budget €300-350, location Ireland. I have been looking at a couple of monitors in this price range, mainly dell and BenQ.

    BenQ pd2700q: ips, 10bit (8+2)100% srgb & rec 709, 75% Adobe rgb, pre-calibrated. 1.07 billion colours, 2560×1440 QHD Resolution. €320

    BenQ pd2500q: ips 8bit, 100% srgb & rec 709, 70% Adobe rgb, pre-calibrated. 16.7 million colours, 2560×1440 QHD Resolution. €300

    Dell u2518d: ips, 99% srgb & rec 709, pre-calibrated, 16.7 million colours 2560×1440 QHD Resolution. €293

I’m leaning towards the BenQ pd2700q. Im probably going to order in the next 48hrs.

Or would I be better off taking a hit and stretching my budget now to consider these monitors (below), rather than spending more later on to upgrade.

    Dell up2516d: ips, 99% Adobe rgb, 100%srgb & rec 709, 100% dci p3. 1.07 billion colours, 2560×1440 QHD Resolution. €476

    BenQ sw240: ips, 99% AdobeRGB. 100% sRGB. 95% DCI-P3, 1.07 billion colours, 10bit, 1920×1200 Resolution, pre-calibrated. €455

What are peoples opinions, is there any other suggestions for this budget? Any advice appreciated.

    Cheers.

Hmmm. I think that you’d want a higher % on Adobe RGB.

Personally, I’d bite the bullet, spend the extra rather than regret not doing so later.

Btw, i’ve been thinking about that BenQ sw240 also but I’d like a 4k version. All comes at a cost unfortunately…

I was leaning towards the BenQ as the brand seems to be popular with pro photographers, but the sw240 resolution is not as good as the dell up2516d. I don’t know if that is down to the quality of the monitor or the slightly smaller size. There is also the possibility of me getting a discount on the dell, which will make it cheaper than the benq. I have been looking at reviews for the Dell and it seems to have a lot of good and bad reviews, the good reviews say that the buyer couldn’t be happier and the bad seem to mention colour cast issues at the edge of monitors. It seems to be a lottery to get a good one, but all reviews are from a couple of years ago, which leads me to think it might have been production teething issue. Then there is the argument between whether adobe rgb is even crucial, yes its a wider gamut, but we tend to view everything on srgb devices and when it comes to print some labs print in srgb space. Mind boggling to decide 😂, although it’s probably better to have Adobe rgb coverage than not have it and need it at some point.

Mind boggling is the word for sure :D

I had a Dell monitor in my wish list on amazon but can’t find it…

It might be the u2518d, I had seen it mentioned in articles about the best editing monitors, but when I searched for it on Dell it says no longer available and on Amazon it say currently unavailable.
