Was -6 when i got into the car to go out shooting and thought i was mad ( wont admit it yet ).
C/C welcomeLiam2673ParticipantLovely colours and I like the way it is so crowded. Sky also is good, not sure about the vapor trail but apart from that a fine shot.
snaphappyMemberbeautifulirelandParticipantTinyMembergot to agree that the colours are lovely, but for me, its a little to crowed, but nice none the less :-)
sirvadMemberthanks all. cluttered or not too cluttered, suppose its a personal choice. for me im happy with it as i could picture it on a mantle piece in the form of a christmas card. dying of the flu now so hope it was worth it :)
5faytheParticipantHi Sirvad,
I like the look of this.
I can almost feel the cold and the colour looks good.
The angle of the cloud formation seems to mirror the
slope of the bank on the RHS.I wondered why you didn’t include all the tree?
There seems to be a halo or lighter area around the
tree’s branches.
Was this due to you trying to process for the sky without
altering the tree?Cheers.
John.
sirvadMemberthanks John. the only way i could get the top of the tree in was to step back a bit or go portrait as i did as well. need to get myself a wide angle lens( which i have no experience of). Does a wide angle lens give you extra height as well as width???

Hi Sirvad,
Yes stepping back, going portrait or using a wider lens would include more
of the tree but of course the image would have been different and there is
no guarantee that it would have been better. This image is nicely concentrated on a smallish area around the wooden
walkway and maybe a wider view might have destroyed it’s impact.A wide angle lens will give a wider view in all directions.
Cheers.
John.
