Took these this evening. -4 and cold with a german shepard charging around whilst its owner ignored me. German shepards running at you on the beach in the dark whilst its -4 is not something I’ll be doing again!,,,,,,,,
Appreciate ur thoughts/Playing around with HDR on the 1st
Lovely shots Robert – both of them. The harbour is particulaly lovely, proper postcard stuff and great composition (would have loved to see the whole of the sinking fishing boat in the shot though!) but for some reason I find the distant ship distracting – have you tried cloning it out? I might also desaturate the blue just a notch.
I do like #1. If it wasn’t for the photomatix logo you’d be hard pressed to tell it was hdr. I’m assuming though, that is is the hdr processing that has left the glow around the trees and church steeple. This is a pity but I know it’s very difficult to remove.
Yeah I see the glow around the church steeple etc in the first, I actually thought this was the lights in the town center behind, but maybe it is related to the HDR generation?. I kinda like it ! but am not sure why!
In relation to #2, it is a pity I didn’t capture the full sunken boat alright but there was a potakabin covered in graffiti that would have come into the shot if attempted to get the full boat. The returning boat was supposed to be a key feature of this shot when I took it but probably would have looked better if it was further to the left with a little less blur.
