Had an early start this morning to catch the sky before sunrise. Luckily the cloud cover cleared to leave a fantastic blue sky. What do you think?
5faytheParticipantHi Jason,
I prefer the colour version.
It’s definitely an interesting subject and credit to you for the early start.
My first thought here was that I didn’t like the blurry bottom portion of the
picture especially the white portion of the reflection.
I wondered if effect was intentional as you used a long exposure?I quite like the colour.
I do find logos on images distracting.
Well done.
John.
PD_BARBSParticipantJMac-2006ParticipantThanks John
The colour version was straight from the camera, sorry about the watermark text, i can see what you are saying on the reflection though i am not sure whether i want to do anything with it as i quite like the composition maybe a longer exposure might have given clarity or maybe more blur :) – a slight crop would do no harm but then again i might leave as is :)
Thanks Peter
The more i look at the colour one the more i think its one i will definitely print large and hang on my wall.
settings – f16, 25 sec, iso 100, at 17mm, used a daylight white balance to intensify the blue sky. (would have been nice to have a 10mm lens)
Thanks again.
jmdharknessParticipantIve seen a good few shots of this bridge on flickr recently, think id have to say this is definately one of the better ones. Well done!

yes me 3
Alan RossiterParticipantI find the B&W lends itself perfectly to the abstract shapes and angles. I like the colour too but the B&W swings it.
What sort of exposure length did you have to get to achieve this one?
I don’t like watermarks…if someone is going to want an image 800px wide they’re welcome to it. Bu this image might be useful for sites and as it’s a clean version (no people, clutter in the water, etc) it might be a happy balance. Having said that I’d clone out that watermark in a couple of minutes.
Alan.
JMac-2006ParticipantThanks for the comments, i liked this so much i went out and got a 20×16 print in colour and it looks brill, even my wife showed it off to the neighbours which is saying something
Alan
settings – f16, 25 sec, iso 100, at 17mm and being in the right place at the right timei think if i were better at photoshop it could be a really cool black and white – as it is i like both for different reasons the b&w for the reason you said of angles and shapes – the colour for the intense blue contrast against the white bridge
