Drifting in Mondello

Caught this a while back. Really looking for some feedback, and some panning advice from anyone who does more of it than I do. I have another shot, where you can see the drivers face, but I think this look more like a struggle of man against machine.

Its a good photo you got the front of the car sharp, which is what I consider the important part. A tighter framing if your lens would allow it would make it better IMO. As for the panning, what speed was this photo taken at, looks like the car wasn’t going that fast?

Set the camera to AI focus, Shutter priority mode (Tv on Canon), start with speeds around 1/160s and drop from there as you get sharp shots. Drifting is a great sport for panning, but the location you take the photo from makes a difference. In mondello you can get decent shots from spectator areas, but better shots can be taken from the inside of the bend.

Through the fence at Honda 1/100s, these don’t look quite as good as when shooting for inside the bend at a competition

BTW there is a drift practice day, at Mondello this Sunday (24th) might be an opportunity for people to try panning or taking photos of drift cars.
