    Folks,

Myself and the Missus are looking to go away for a few days next week. I quite fancy being close to a beach (on a beach if possible) but obviously money isn’t exactly flowing.

Can anyone recommend a nice reasonable hotel/guest house on a beach anywhere around the country?

    Much obliged.

    Hi Jody,

not a bad hotel near me, The Waterside in Donabate. This is right on the beach with great views across to Howth head and the Wicklow mountains in the distance. Hotel itself would be middling, restaurant does a great steak, but its the location that sells it. 5 mins drive from train station (25 mins into town on train) in case herself wants a bit of shopping while you wander off for photos !

    Hi Jody.

If your thinking of heading south you could have a look at the Quality Hotel Youghal, link below. This would be a cheap and cheerful option and is right on the beach which is about 5km long. You would see some lovely birdlife close by this time of year. For a few bob more  you look at the Cliff House Hotel Ardmore which has been recently rebuilt and offers a superb location, link also below. Both are about 10min from Youghal which in turn is about 30mins frpm Cork city.

    Hope these help.

Thanks for the replies. We ended up getting a place on Banna Beach (well, 800 meters from the beach). Can’t wait now
