5faytheParticipantHi Martin,
I am surprised you have not got any replies to your question.
I can’t comment on the tripod in your link as I have no experience of it.
I regularly use a tripod but I would have no real expertise in the subject.I picked a tripod to suit my needs.
It is quite sturdy, not too heavy and it was not too expensive. (€75 in a local shop)Tripods come in lots of different sizes and of course weights.
If you buy a really heavy tripod you may find it is just too much trouble to carry it
around for hours.A cheaper lighter unit might be next to useless for keeping your camera steady
especially if there is some wind.I would pop down to your nearest camera shop (I bought my last 3 tripods in Sam McCauley’s) and
try your camera on some sample units.
Getting a hands-on feel of the various types might answer you question.Check how the legs lock.
Flip locks are very handy.I hope this is some help.
Good luck.
John.
miki gParticipantHi Martin.
I don’t use this model, but I do use another Giottos model & I find it to be very sturdy & versatile. Giottos would be very close to Manfrotto in producing high quality products, so I’d imagine you wold be fairly safe buying this tripod or another from their range.Martin LeonardParticipantI got the tripod on Friday and it’s very sturdy and not too heavy, a big plus for me is it fits on the back of my motorbike without too much hassle and it was cheaper than the advertised price.
Thanks for the replies miki g & 5faythe

brianmaclParticipantI am just wondering why are you choosing this head, the tripod looks good but the head might be a bit cumbersome for faster everyday use.
