I’ve used the “classroom in a book” series for photoshop in the past. Its produced by the
people that make the software. The lessons are usually spot on.
    Take a look at:
    http://www.bookdepository.co.uk/book/9780321660329/Adobe-Photoshop-Elements-8-Classroom-in-a-Book
They have 50% off the book at the minute and they deliver free to Ireland.

Thanks Martin. That is very cheap compared to easons/cdwow etc. Ordered!

Scott Kelby’s “Photoshop Elements 8 for Digital Photographers” is another one worth a look at. I think it has the Black, White, Grey Point and Camera Raw White Balance card at the back just like his Photoshop books do,

Waste of time, just think what exactly you need to do and then google a tutorial how to do it (most of tutorials can be found on YouTube). Few years ago when I wanted to know something I bought a book but usually before I finished it they released a new version. Moreover it´s very easy to forget something you don´t use and in Photoshop – at least in the extended edition I have – most people don´t use 90 % of the features.

Check your local library too, they often have good stuff, perhaps of an early version but as MMX says, that may be enough – with augmentation from online guides.
