Retouching Photos!

    Hi guys,

I was out at the weekend again to take photos of the lovely landscape of County Sligo/County Leitrim.
When i came home I have noticed though that some of my photos have a bit of fog on it… The camera was a bit foggy so is the picture in left now. Is there a way of retouching this in Photoshop CS4? I havent used the programme in ages!

    Cheers,
    Janine

Have you thought about cutting a small square out of the top, inverting it, pasting it into the bottom and blending it in?

it looks like a smudge on the lens TBH or a water drop.

copying and pasting is a good idea.

    Hi Janine,

If this were mine I would be sorting out whatever caused the problem and
revisiting the scene for another go.

    Cheers.

Hi Janine, as the previous person said, maybe easier to go back and reshoot if possible, otherwise what I would try is…..

Make a very loose selection around the foggy area with the Lasso tool
Feather it quite a bit, or hit Q for Quickmask after you have made your selection as above
You will see a red mask…..now Filter>Blur>Gaussian Blur to visually feather the selection and get a nice soft mask
Hit “Q” again to exit Quickmask
Press Command/Ctrl H to hide (not drop) the selection
Try a small levels adjustment to add back some contrast to the foggy area, trying to match visually the rest of the pic
    Try a little Unsharp Mask

Might just get you close, and good luck!
