First paid wedding…
-
CliveMCLParticipant
…so did i earn my money?
Another friend was also asked to photograph, which took the pressure off! The couple wanted the ‘reportage’ style coverage, but lets be honest posed shots are more likely to flatter the subject!
So any crit please?

SALCONMemberThese are really lovely
I would be very happy if i had taken them
Did you use flash? what av was it at?
really lovely well done love the last one!b318ispParticipantYou’ve capture important moments well here. Maybe the real wedding experts will be along in a minute, as I’m no expert, but technically a number of these look too processed for me.
#1. Lack contrast and may be overexposed. The vignette works quite well, but a crop may also have been an option.
#2. Is not bad, but have you dodged and burned it? The heads of the background people seem to have halos. A tighter crop would work too. Eye contact would have been even better.
#3. I’m not sure if the shot is about the table, hands, candles or decorations – I think this shot could be simplified a lot. I also suspect some d&b or shadows/highlights work as there is something un-natural about it.
#4. Lovely shot, I love the colours and natural lighting. A bit soft perhaps due to the focus point being ahead of the bride.
#5. Nice one. B&W conversion suits it. It seems a bit soft again.
#6. Good shot, captures the moment well
#7. Sorry, but this would be a bin one for me.I hope that you are not too put out by my comments, please accept them as constructive for future work.
AllinthemindParticipantmarkclehaneParticipantHi Clive,
My favs are 3, 4 and 5. I do think the hands in 3 could be brought up or brightened a bit, or maybe just made more prominent in the frame. Still like it though. I actually like the softness in 5. Suppose the main thing was – were the couple happy with the shots?
