Out and about with the Holga again…
-
MartinParticipant
Haven’t been out with the Holga in a good while. Got out on Sunday for a few hours for a walk around mostly around the Royal Canal. Below is the best of what I took…. Hope to use some of these in my Dublin Holga book project…
Holga,Rollei Retro 100 film dev’d in Rodinal,neg scan
Post Box, North Circular Road, Dublin, Ireland
The Five Lamps, North Strand, Dublin, Ireland
Croke Park Football and Hurling Stadium & Royal Canal, Dublin, Ireland
Birds over the Royal Canal, Dublin, Ireland
Archers Garage, Finian St, Dublin, Ireland
EddieParticipantNice work Martin, some nice light over the weekend, especially love that one of the post box. I’d like to see a print of that.
bingbongbiddleyParticipantThe post box is fantastic!, Martin, really like that. I just don’t like the way the bottom is cropped out, would have preferred to see the whole thing.
Like the on with all the birds – that’s quite the flock. Were they Brent Geese?
aoluainParticipantanother nice set Martin!
1,3 and 4 for me love that one of croker!
love the toning martin too.
MartinParticipantThanks for the comments all
Eddie: Haven’t printed any Holga shots in months to be honest, will probably give it a go in the darkroom. I have been after a good post box for a while now…
bingbongbiddley: Yea the bottom of the box is not in the frame. I think if it was the post box would not occupy enough of the frame and might get lost in the shot. Might have been worth trying a full shot though. Have had it in my head just to do the top of a post box for a while to fill the frame. Yes they were Geese alright, loads of them, not just what I caught in the frame
aoluain: Cheers, have had croke park on the list for a while. Took about 5 shots of it, this would be my favorite of them. Yea the toning is something I do for the web, dont tone my prints. I just add the colours red, green and a small bit of yellow to get the look…

Alan RossiterParticipantLooks like you and that Holga know each other quite well now. I echo the sentiments on the postbox…it’s something else.
I was also curious about the Rollei retro film…I’m cautious about cheaper film but these seem to have worked well for you.
Alan
jb7ParticipantLook forward to seeing that book, shaping up well-
That Garage looks good, I’ve had a look at it before,a few times-
you get the impression that it should be easier to make something out of it.
That picture has given me an idea, might go back and have another go…Good set, like the Croker one too-
MartinParticipantThanks Guys
Alan: The Rollei film is actually a Film called “Agfa APX 100” its just re badged with the rollei name. It is available cheap sometimes but is seriously excellent film especially for landscapes. I bought 30 roles of it for 1.50 euro per role, all gone now. Its a nice film but a pain to scan as it it curls like mad
Mr 7: The garage I think is a hard one to get a pic of I think. Its a great looking thing, think most of it was rebuilt after they knocked it down and there was a backlash and was rebuilt…
