ive been trying to do longexposures at night in the wicklow mountains. i was shooting them on digital roughly shooting five minute exposures and they were coming out ok, i applied the same setting to film, iso aperture and exposure but the film isnt really coming out i might just about get one frame but generally threre blank, im using a nikon d300 and a nikon fm2, just wondering if anyone has any advice on this or now anything that might help.
Surprised you haven’t heard about reciprocity failure to be honest, but as the quote goes ‘the longer the exposure, the longer the exposure’ :)
If you’re shooting b&w try out some Fuji Acros 100 which seems to be reciprocity-failure immune up to approx. 2 minutes. For further info check out the film info sheets online that the film manufacturers provide – these will tell you what sort of exposure compensation you will need,
