I am looking to get more experience in fashion & wedding photography and want to assist photographers.
Hi Oxana,
Not my bag, I’m just ramping up to launch my business later this year, god willing, but I’d suggest checking out the strobist dublin group on flickr. Although its been a bit quiet lately, they have regular meet ups to play around with off camera flash, with each contributing a small amount to cover expenses for models and make up artists, who are also coming along to practise etc.
They are not ‘real’ commercial shoots but there are enough togs in the group that do that for a living so its a great place to network and just make friends with togs, models, and make up artists as well as having the opportunity to experiment a bit and learn, which you wouldnt get by assiting on real shoot.
Oh and if you’re not already signed up to it, the Strobist blog is the inspiration for the dublin group and has spawned similar groups all over the world, via flickr and blogspot.
At some point I’m going to get my hands on a van load of last year’s wedding dresses and try and round up a gang of similarly minded people to beef up my portfolio and website before I offer weddings as a product. I think this can work out as cool, relatively inexpensive way to practice and learn.
I’ll definately post an ivite here if and when its happening as well as via the dublin strobist group.
