Finally got to visit this place on Saturday.
I wasn’t disappointed.
Excellent restaurant on the balcony too.
Arun GaurParticipantVery nice tone and composition. Where is this place and what camera lens combination did you use?
Arun Gaur

you’re really getting into the shadows there-
And still, it looks very natural-Was there a column just to your left?
just by way of interest, like…121FOTOParticipantI’ve been having my lunch there loads of times but never bothered to take the camera out..must’ve been to hungry :). Very nice photo. It would be nice to include the fountain in the photo but that would probably distort the whole thing way to much.
5faytheParticipantMany thanks Arun Gaur, Joseph, and Ovidiu for taking the time to reply.
Arun Gaur: This market is located in the centre of Cork city with entrances from a number of streets.
I used a Canon 40D and a Canon EF-S10-22 lens 10mm and f8.
The camera was handheld with an ISO of 400 and a shutter speed of 1/125 and Aperture Priority.Joseph: Thanks for your kind comments.
I was happy with the way it worked out as it was taken at the top of a busy stairs and I was seriously
concentrating on trying to keep stuff straight.
I don’t remember a column to my left.
We sat on the balcony to the left just above Duncan and the couple of photos of herself I took from
there don’t show a column clearly.
I’ll have to go back and check. :)Ovidiu: I did take one angled down to include the fountain and it introduced quite a number of slopes. :)
I wasn’t sure myself whether I would be ticked off for using a big camera but I decided to chance it anyway. Thanks again for your comments.

Hi Alan,
Many thanks for your kind comments.
Sorry for the delay in acknowledging your reply.
It’s a bit hectic round here at the moment and haven’t had much time to be online.I do find the EF-S 10-22 lens works quite well.
I had to handhold it too as I was in a busy walkway. Thanks again and the POTM nomination is greatly appreciated.
Cheers.
John.
shutterbugParticipantHi John,
I have seen a lot of pictures of this market, but none from the vantage point you have
chosen, it makes it look totally different, showing the building off very well, it is a lovely
old building, yet still has the feel of the market bustling away below you.Really nice shot, and I think the black and white suits it too.
