Hi, been away from forum for a while now, but thought i’d pop in and see a few shots and post one of my own of Warrenpoint.
I’d like some serious critique of this shot please. I like it, but i’d like to know what others think…? It was taken with my new Wide-angle Tamron 10-24 lens, which i’m very happy with.
justaguyParticipantits not bad.
Two things. You could maybe get more detail in the foreground. (the stones)
and if you shoot against the sun it turn often out that you don’t see the sun but a big area of bright light. I dont know how to do this either. I guess you need a filter for that.rc53Memberjustaguy wrote:

Singh-Ray make a reverse neutral grad filter for sunsets, clear in the lower half, then dark with a graduation to the top.
I don’t have oneRaVMemberMy first thought was that the composition could be a bit more interesting. Since you ve put it in a square crop, which I do like, but with the horizon close to the centre like that it feels very solid/rigidit and not as dynamic as it could be. My personal preference would be to include more foreground and a bit less sky. Horizon in the top 3rd for squares works quite well for shots like this.
shutterbugParticipantHmm……..the sun! Seriously blown/over exposed, how to get round it without a filter? Maybe
try two exposures or even three and blend them, then the sun would have had a bit of definition and
the foreground rocks could have had some detail, a tripod would be ideal but maybe you could have
improvised with the rocks. Not easy as has been said, but very do-able with the right exposures/filters/tripods/patience :)
richy5497MemberThanks for all the suggestions and critique. I’ll go back when my camera is back from repair (ERR99) and try to recompose and expose the sun correctly :)
