Should I buy the Canon EOS 1000D on Amazon ( http://www.amazon.co.uk/gp/product/B001TOD3YG/ref=s9_simh_gw_p23_i1?pf_rd_m=A3P5ROKL5A1OLE&pf_rd_s=center-1&pf_rd_r=0CRRHM0NFZZZQYN1YA4T&pf_rd_t=101&pf_rd_p=467198433&pf_rd_i=468294″ onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false; )
For those of you with alot of experience.
Whats is your opinion on this camera ? Should I buy from Amazon ?Shutter BugMemberIt’s not a bad deal. I’m not a huge Amazon fan though.
You can buy a new 500D from Digigood on ebay for under €500 though.
I bought from them a few time a good while ago, highly recommended.
Green MeanieParticipantHad a 1000d last year and it is smaller to handle than anything up from a 50D. If you are used to a dial on the back of the camera then you will find yourself going into the menus more ofthen that you might like.
I got good results from it last year at the World Superbikes at Portimao with just 55-250mm EFS lens.
Shutter BugMemberStunning photo! Taken with a 1000D?
I’ve always prefered the likes of 30D / 40D and upwards, but am well impressed with what you’ve achieved with the 1000D.
I had an old 300D once, only camera I had at the time when invited to go to the Saltee Islands, everyone else had a 7D, but I was actually well impressed with the quality I got, although I couldn’t take decent action / fast moving photo’s, not at 1.5fps.
Have you any more photo’s taken with the 1000D?

Thanks for the comments, took lots with the 1000D last year, last thread hijack but I like this one below using a 50 1.4.
Shutter BugMemberPiotr MMemberNo offence guys, but such photos can be taken with compact camera. 1000d allows much, much more even with kit lens. Though old 400d is equal or even better, because having the same sensor 1000d is missing some features. That is why it is so cheap.
However, buying cheaper camera and better lens/es is way smarter than buying cheap lenses and pricey cameras. Good lenses are like an investment. They keep their value whereas cameras as getting old and cheap. Moreover, you won’t see any advantage of e.x. 7d over 1000d without really good lens.Shutter BugMemberI was more impressed with the action photo taken with the 1000D, cause of it’s low fps…

FPS? – no. Read about panning http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Panning_(camera). This technique was used here.
More important is good lens with fast and RELIABLE autofocus. Optical stabilisation (OS) would be useful too, because this photo is still blurred despite being resized and sharpened. Good tele lenses use smart OS mechanism which detects horizontal motion and stabilizes only vertical movement (e.g. nikon 70-300VR and 70-200VR’s I & II).
