Epson v700 vs v750

This may not be quite the right forum for this but my main interest is scanning negatives so film photography seems most apt …

Anyway, what’s the difference between these two models? Is it just the software that’s bundled with them? Anything else?

I need it for scanning 35mm, 120 and 4×5 negs.

Apart from the bundled software, which includes Silverfast Ai (which I find useful)
and some calibration and colour matching software,
the differences are minimal- the V750 has coated optics.

If you want to scan smaller formats, you might want to invest in a better mount-
the one from betterscanning seems to come highly recommended, though I haven’t used it.

The Epson film holders are flimsily built, and there are flatness issues, particularly with 35mm.
It’s fine for proofing, or for posting on the web, but I wouldn’t be able to produce a worthwhile print from 35mm using the Epson holder.

I have printed 6×9 from the 120 holder, and that seems acceptable at A4, though a better mount would be, well, better…

Agree with Joseph the Epson holders are dreadful, I have found the 120 holders to be poor also, notice it with Acros 100 more than Neopan 400 cant really explain why. I always flatten the negs before scanning. Factor in replacing these if you buy either scanner.

I got V700, does anyone know it it’s possible to get fluid mount separately? It only comes with V750.

The Silverfast AI bundled software is worth the extra bucks in my opinion. Horrible UI but great results especially when you use the multi-exposure pass option.

I’m not sure if the V700 has it but the v750 comes with IT8 targets (reflective and transparent) so that you can create your own scanner profiles using the bundled Monaco EZColor software.

With the v750 you just have to phone Epson to ask them to send you the fluid-mount accessory. They tell you on the phone it can take up to 28 days but I received mine after 3-4 via DHL.
