Two very nice shots, much better than I’ve ever managed to capture. That said the light is a bit harsh and the first shot looks a litte soft.

Thanks Dave, Yeah the first certainly is a little softer , he was running right at me guess either my focusing or the Ai Servo’s was a little off. Afternoon sun certainly does create harsh shadows but i like the effect.

Well from a beginners point of view, Wow. Beautiful animal and a lovely capture showing the character of the fox.

Two lovely shots & as Connie said Captures the character of the fox & it’s habitat very well. They would look well in any nature magazine. Well done.

2 great shots, liking the 1st one better because of the fox’s focus on the camera. Pity about the shadow but great pics none the less, very appealing : )

That first shot is really nice.
You could probably dodge the eyes a little to bring them out more.
May I ask where this was taken?

great shots I’d be tempted to crop the first a little. Not an easy task getting such good shots of a fox in the wild!. did you stumble upon her or were you camped out?

Thank you for all your comments,I have since run a high pass filter over the first one to sharpen it up a bit especially around the eyes and the results actually look much better and acceptably sharp (at least i hope if go to print them), i wont double post though unless people want to see them i also have two more shots in the series.

Madra Rua – They were taken up in the dublin mountains ,most of the shots i have from last year are from a strip of scrub land next to where i live i have gotten as close as maybe half a meter to them.

Rasmith32 – I have been studying fox’s habitat & behavior for around a year now i have books and books on them sometimes i wait in one spot in a hide other times i just go out in leaf camouflage and try and bring them to me. most times i come home empty handed but every once in a while i get a shot and it makes it all worth it. will have to try and get a night shot sometime too but i’m not great with flash.

Go on, double post away people won’t mind at all. Maybe change the title to mention you have added another image.

ok a more sharpened version of the original using high pass filter, what do people think better / worse ?

I think there’s a huge difference, his eyes are now sharp transforming the whole image. Well captured and processed.
