March Sunset
-
flynnyParticipant
One from this evening at Inch Bay,East Cork.
Processed using a contrast mask ala Peter Cox.
Interested to here comments about the processing on it……johnson76ParticipantHi there
I love the image… looks to have come out really well.. might be interesting to see how you would have processed it before Peter Cox’s mask and see if there is much of a difference? There is a lot of detail in the bottom of the picture… and I know that it needs to be there.. just wondering what it would look like if it was cropped a little more… just my thoughts…
DaveMurdochParticipantLove it 8) There`s lots to look at in the foreground which leads the eye beautifully to that great sunset :D
Im not very clued up on processing so im afraid i couldn`t comment on whatever is was you done :?
could this shot not be achieved in camera???flynnyParticipantHi Lads,
Of course I should have posted the unprocessed file for comparison,
This is it straight from the camera………………….
johnson76ParticipantMadra RuaParticipantVery nice composition.
The textures in the processed shot are lovely. So well defined.
I am not sure about the levels though. The foreground seems to be a tad too bright.
Brighter even than the sky. That can’t be right, or?SeaviewParticipantLovely shot Paul well captured and processed, the sky is very nice in processed image. I think as mentioned earlier, cropping a portion off the foreground might also look well. Love the colour of the sky btw.
Dave.
Paul WhParticipantGreat shot, love the rocks, dont know if you need to crop it, sky is great, pin sharp image, love the water movement.
flynnyParticipantThanks for the replies folks,
This was processed twice in RAW,
Once for the sky and once for the foreground,
I darkened the sky a little, lightened the foreground( Maybe a little too much),
Blended together using a gradient mask, and then applied the contrast mask,
It was shot with .3 soft ND grad filter,
I agree that there might be a little too much foreground, although I’m not convinced that a crop would improve it either,Many thanks again for the input,
markclehaneParticipantAs with most of your other images Ive seen, this is really impressive – the kind I always aspire to. I’ll put it down to the fact that you’ve got a far superior camera for now
flynnyParticipantHi Mark.
I can assure you it’s nothing to do with the camera,
I joined this site about 2 years ago and I can say it was the best thing I did, from a photography point of view.
I have learned plenty here.
When I bought my first DSLR, I really didn’t have much of a clue how to use it,
But gradually ,with the help of the folks here, I have learnt an awful lot.
So really if I get lucky now and then with a shot,
It’s all down to the good people in here. :)Green glensParticipantJMac-2006Participantgreat image Paul, one to be proud of, the processing has really helped bring out the detail and show off the lovely sky.
justaguyParticipantwell balanced picture. foreground looks ok to me. very well processed. you can put that on your wall no problem
