Took this today . . . I havnt really thought of trying to
    capture the cathedral seriously before.

Does the car detract from the image or does it add?

Or maybe clone would be better. Enjoy.

Or – better idea, maybe transplant a bit of hedge across to cover the car.

I read that John Hinde used to do that, always kept a saw in this car. If you see a rhododendron in his postcards, might be an eyesore behind it.

    +1 on blue car going.

    Hi Alan,

I don’t think the car adds anything to the image so by default I
    think it probably detracts.

I’d also probably be in agreement with Mark and suggest another visit.

    Nice building.

    Cheers.

    John.

Yup, car spoils the shot. Quick clone and add a new sky :-)

thanks for the replies and suggestions.

I went with the first option . . . crop.

Nice effort brendan but its a bit fake looking!

Mark I will definitely take a trip back at some stage
    although its a busy spot.

Just to clarify, this isnt a HDR.

I think the crop is too tight – the image falls between too close and too far – either a close study of the tower, or a broader perspective would work better! (and the title is accurate!)

If it were me the first thing I’d do is change the “Edit my pics” profile setting to ‘No’.

This country needs a ‘cruelty to photos’ act put into law as soon as possible to have the likes of brendancullen put behind bars.

    Well done.

    I’d agree-

I think the editing permissions should be put back on the page,
rather than be hidden in profiles-
just in case there’s any misunderstanding,
and defacing somebody’s pictures was deemed to be acceptable.

I don’t suppose you thought of de-saturating the car?
    really quite easy-

I’d also agree about the crop being too tight-
In a way, I’m not quite sure why you posted this-
the building isn’t that remarkable, and the light is uninspiring,
and it seems you were hampered with the composition-
If I didn’t have to produce a picture of this,
I’m not sure I would have wasted an actuation, as they say-

Still, I suppose you provided some amusement, for some…

If you go up to the roof of the car park of M&S you get a great vantage point from which to shoot the Cathedral
