A few thoughts…
#1 – What time of day was this taken? I’m guessing mid-day. I like the subject, but I think it would be better with the less harsh light of sunrise or sunset. Also, I’m not sure I like the way the sky meets the land at the top-righthand of the frame. I feel it might benefit from a little sky above the ground.
#2 – I’m not sure about the woman walking the dog so close the edge of the frame. I like the idea of it, but I feel there needs to be a bit more room.

I agree with Doug’s comments. #2 has real potential, if it could be given more space. #1 seems a touch overexposed and under saturated – but it’s not a bad shot at all.
