Photo Fest 2010
-
BarkerPhotographicParticipant
You have seen all the announcements and details of new gear here during the year, but Photo Fest 2010 is the place to be on Sunday next (18th April) if you want to see the real thing. As well as great deals, free sweets you can talk to the experts on our stand about Wacom Graphics tablets, Quantum TTL Flash, Ringflash, Custom Brackets, Expo Disc, PermaJet, Elinchrom Studio and Portable Lighting and lots of the old reliables Like Omni Bounce diffusers, Grey cards and sensor cleaning stuff.
paulParticipantAside from the fact you have to pay in (€10) to see a trade show, it looks like an interesting event.
damiendParticipantTescos are now also charging an entrance fee.. Time for people to wise up………

I’ve just returned from that event.
Waste of time and money.Hi Piotr,
Sorry to hear that.
And I was thinking of heading up from Wexford today.
I feel better now. :?Cheers.
John.
gsParticipantWhy do they charge in for this event when the Croke Park one is free ?
I do not believe that there should be a charge in to these type of events .cheers,
GerryBallymanParticipantThe €10 charge was the reason I didn’t bother going. The companies on the stalls are all trying to sell you something and charging you €10 for the pleasure? I don’t think so. This crap might have worked a year or two ago but not now. And unless you are a wedding photographer then there isn’t much to keep you entertained for the day.
You will have a pretty much identical lineup in Croker in September for €0.
MMXParticipantI was there too; I didn´t know about the €10 charge and was a bit surprised when they asked me to pay, on the other hand I don´t think it was a waste of money – at least the chance to shoot something with €20,000 Hasselblad was worth it :D

If you wanted to try hassel then you you should be happy indeed. But on the other hand, I wanted to see some of the canon gear which they did not bring (they had only popular bodies and couple of lenses). Nikon’s stand – same story. No sigma, no tamron, no tokina.
Sony had a very nice exposition, but I’m not interested in their gear. Panasonic – they were there, but I don’t care about micro 4/3. It is bizarre to have an exposition in the darkness (same for canon).
Printing equipment for wedding photographer – not for me.
Some software – one guy was presenting nice plugins for PS, and he knew what he was talking about.
Lectures and presentation – quite basic subjects. Good for beginers. Quite a small room for the audience though.
Photographic retailers – Berminghams did well. They had both new and second hand gear, photo filters and other equipment, but their store I can see with no hassle in Dublin or online.
