Lovely set Kevin well done, I thought I saw one last week but he was flying past and I only
caught a glimpse. Have seen them in Wales but never lucky enough to see one here.

    Lovely shots.

I have a question for you thats a little off topic if you don’t mind. I see you have a MkIV and these were taken at ISO1600. Are they a little noisy? I thought the MkIV would be cleaner than this? I presume they are cropped pretty heavily as well? Would this have added to the noise? Sorry for the off topic questions.

Lovely set. I especially like the in-flight shot as I know how hard it is to capture these guys in flight. I used to have a regular 2 pairs of these guys residing under the bridge in Tipperary town & they used to be a pleasure to watch while waiting at the bus stop. Don’t see many pics of them posted here though. Well done

Thanks guys… the light was poor enough that morning .. hence the high ISO…. it was the first real test of it to be honest and they are cropped heavy enough also – he is pretty small now – though he eventually came up close enough in the end.

Never seen one before that did not dart away on my at the first sight of a human .. so was pretty happy to get these shots of him

Nice shots :) I saw one these little birds for the first time yesterday on the Shimna River in Tollymore :D In fact we were lucky and saw two  The first one we were watching moved downstream and bumped into another, then started what looked like a mating dance. It was bobbing up and down and spreading its wings out 8)
Does anyone know if thats what we saw???
Took a few shots but i only had a 200mm lens and had to use a high iso for a decent shutter speed..
