Jessops Cable Releases …

.. are rubbish it seems. I am continually breaking them and not through misuse … just because they seem to be totally flimsy. Are there better ones that can be bought? If so where?

I have a Hahnel wireless shutter release, very good have had no problems
and is quite robust. I think it cost about €48 which you have probably spent
over and over on the “cheapies”

If your after film ones hugh i got 5 of these, seem to do the job and are strong enough.

19 dollars free postage for 5 of them…

I had a jessop one before and it broke were it screws into the camera, these seem to be stronger in that area…

    Martin,

    Two questions:

    – Why would you want five of them? Are they fairly disposable and a little flimsy?

    – Are these universal screw-in releases, like will work on an FM2 for example?

edit: I had a better look at the ad and see that the guy claims they’re universal so I guess that answers my second question. They should provide the option for a screw in releases on modern DSLRs too.

    Thanks,

    Alan

    Alan,

I have always had a good few cable releases.

Over time you always lose them, break them, forget to bring one with you (so I always leave one in the glove box in the car), someone your out shooting with has forgotten theirs etc etc

There cheap enough no harm having a few

Yea they fit my Nikon FM2n, Mamiya, Rolleiflex, Bronica… so universal enough
    M
