Hiya guys I’ve just joined up and I thought I would try and post a shot of mine I did while ago and see what you think. Feel free to critise etc

This was taken a few months ago up in Howth pier after i was coming home from a friends house.

I like it conor. Nice and sharp and plenty to look at. Composition is not bad. The flowers at the front give a nice bit of foreground interest. The only thing I would say on the downside is that the composition would be better if the horizon didnt cut across the center of the pic. I’d crop ot some of the sky to move the horizon upwards.

Hi Conor, welcome to the site!

This in an interesting image and a good first post. Personally, I don’t like the flowers in the foreground. They appear to be lit by a nearby streetlamp, which makes them really bright compared to the rest of the scene. I would have tried to frame the image without them. I agree with RAS’s comment about the sky. It’s not the interesting part of the image, so it should not have equal weight in the crop.

I like it too, but would agree with removing the flowers, the second crop you did
is a bit severe, the lamp post is too near the top of the frame and your reflections
have been cut off at the bottom. I think if you included as much of the reflection as
you can even if it meant cloning out the flowers and then include about half the sky
you would have a lovely shot.
