Just wanted to pass on a good deal I came across recently.
I brought a class load of 3rd year secondary school students to the beautiful West of Ireland this week for a Geography/History Fieldtrip. We had originally booked into a hostle in Kilfenora but then got a flyer from a place in Lahinch. For the same price (€15 per night – group rate for students) we got a very modern hostle with all rooms ensuite, flat screen TVs in each room, wireless internet access, breakfast, common room with 42″ plasma, Nintendo Wii, X-Box 360 and various other games. We were well looked after by the owners and will definately return next year.
They seem to gear the place towards surfers. Every room & corridor has photographs of local areas by local photographers.
Double room rates are around €30/35 per person and its the closest thing to hotel accomodation I’ve come across.
So if you’re planning a trip to the west, contact Duncan at West Coast Lodge in Lahinch. I’ll definately be heading back over the summer so I can hit the Birds of Prey Centre at the Ailwee Caves to see the White Tailed Eagle in flight.
