Folks,
Can anyone recommend a place to purchase good quality pinholes (well 1 :) ) ?
Somewhere you’ve got them yourself would be even better if possible.Thanks
aoluainParticipantHi Mark,
I meant to post this in my projects thread . . .
Although im waiting 2 weeks now this company is cutting a pinhole for me . . .http://ritewayengineering.com/” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;
Also they are available on evilbay > http://myworld.ebay.ie/just-simple-hole/” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;
MarkKeymasterThanks Alan !.
I looked at those ebay guys, looks like they’re printing on a transparent material and leaving a hole in it, ie
a part unprinted… that right or am I misreading it ?aoluainParticipantMarkKeymasterJust ordered a couple on ebay Alan. Will let you know how I get on with them.
aoluainParticipantcool, they are relatively inexpensive really, would be worth a try!
I might have to go that route too . . . no word of my pinhole yet,
joseph is havin a good laugh at us . . . he whipped together a pinhole
camera in 5 minutes ! :roll: :Dx_SarahKate_xMemberThey’re not too hard to make if you’re not looking for anything fancy (: we made them in college near the start of the year, such fun (:

(I mentioned ebay recently)
that doesn’t sound like a hole at all-These are the type I meant, though I think I saw others too-

MarkKeymasterHi JB,
I ended up buying 2 different sizes of these http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=250624055832&ssPageName=STRK:MEWNX:IT” onclick=”window.open(this.href);return false;
Thanks
Emmet.LParticipantHey,
You can make a digital pin hole if you have a d-slr. Just get the cap that came with the body and drill a small hole in it and stick it on the body. A nice way of getting easy colour pin holes quickly.davedunneParticipantEmmet.L wrote:

I did something similar only I drilled a large hole and then taped part of a coke can with a small hole made with a pin onto it
To make the hole I used made a small indentation using a pin and then used very fine glass paper to sand down until the hole appeared.
The hardest part is getting a uniform hole (which I did not get), hence why laser drilled ones cost a little more.
EddieParticipantA fairly cheap option to get into pinholes is the 120 WPC which gives a 6*12 negative on 120 film. You can pick them up on e-bay for about 32€. Here is a review on Flickr

MarkKeymasterThanks lads. That WPC looks interesting Eddie.
Anyhow, pinholes arrived now need to find some time to put together something.
Will be aiming for but undoubtedly won’t reach the quality of a JB7 creation.
I’ll have more like a JB2 or 3 max :)jb7Participantyou can’t have seen my one in the other thread if you think that…
it’s functional, but no more, and at around half an hour, I spent far too much time on it-
not to mention money- a sheet of A4 black foamboard in O’Sullivans is €2.95…TipptoggyMemberThe size of the hole is critical, and there are sites on the web that have formula you can use to get the best results from your gear. You need the distance between the body cap and the bit where the image will fall , either the sensor or the film.
One trick I worked out was that guitar strings come in regulation sizes and you can use short sections of those to drill the hole in the coke can or aluminium foil on the body cap. had a fun day with an old Fuji S! and a bit of tape and some short 2cm long guitar string fragments….. warning.though, it’s a hole you are making and potentially a place whee dust can enter your DSLR
I also found the image produced from the pinhole was VERY big , much larger than the cameras sensor, so it didn’t pick up that pleasing astigmatic soft cornering…
