Here I have a few pictures from the big demonstration in Athens today and the start of the riots luckily (or unluckily, depends on how you see it) my camera broke before the real riots started, so I got out save.
The pictures are JPEGs straight out of the camera, as I don’t have Photoshop with me, so I can’t process them before I’m back home.
The remaining pictures can be seen on my Flickr.
It started like a fun day out
Have something to eat
Drink a coffee
A day for the whole family
Make some music
Many people were there
Shout some slogans
and some more slogans
The demonstration finally reaches Syntagma square, the main square in front of the parliament
The police was alread there
as was RTE
The croud gets angrier
and angrier
The military honour guard (for the Tomb of the unknown soldier) leaves
The crowd tries to storm the Parliament
The police retaliates with teargas and the crowd retreats, but some go on and the first things are thrown
After this, my camera broke temporarily and I had too leave the scene.
They’re fantastic! I love the way you documented the progress from what seems at the beginning like a ‘pleasant’ event (really like the one of the family with the sunglasses) to the mayhem at the end. Brilliant work, and glad you got out without any injuries!
