Shoot the kids
-
MartinOCParticipant
I wouldn’t be into shooting children on the street in Ireland, or particularly not in the UK.
But parents don’t seem to mind here, I guess particularly if you look the tourist.
I keep my distance but with my wide-ish lens the shots suffer a bit.Martin
Troublesome little brother
Scary foreigner
Consultation
CoveyParticipantVery nice as usual Martin.
On the subject of kids, I take a lot of kids on the street in Ireland without any bother. Wouldn’t try it in the UK though
MartinOCParticipantThanks Tommie for your kind comment,
Before I arrived here I spent 5 yrs in the UK, it didn’t seem so friendly for street photographers.
Good to hear that Ireland has not gone that way.Martin
connieParticipantI like the look on the kids faces in the final one. The second one looks great with the wet ground reflecting everything back.
I live in Scotland and it is not something you could easily do without being challenged. I have to say from a mothers point of view I think I would also challenge someone taking my childs picture, if I felt the need to.
It is a double edged sword as when does protecting become over protecting and paranoia. I look back on my “snap shots” of my children in playgrounds etc and inevitably you will find a beautiful picture of another child unaware they have been caught in the moment.streetshooterMemberI love 2 and 3 Martin, up to your usual high standard. I would suggest that a tighter crop on 3 to emphasise the kids’ expressions might work?? :)
MartinOCParticipantThanks Streetshooter,
Yeah the third one would have been better if I had been closer in, I’ll have a look at a crop, see how grainy it gets.
It’s a serengeti for street photography here, with the amount of people, lots of opportunity.Cheers,
Martin
