Who can tell me what is the difference here:

Single colored filter of 58mm Hoya (red, green, blue etc..) – 40 Euro :o
    and
A set of five colored filters 58 mm “no name” – 20 Euro

    Thank you

More than likely the quality. I paid around 60 euro each for the Hoya Yellow, Orange and Red in the 77mm size. They will last a life time if you look after them…

If you can only afford the one the first one I would get is the yellow, its the one I use the most followed by the Orange…

    Hi,

I got this Zeiss 354/0 Orange 5X S 40.5mm filter, but can’t find any information about it.

Does anyone know what filter factor it has and how should I adjust my exposure when using it?

    Thank you.

    Irmanatas,

Filter thread is often an area that is skimped on with cheaper lenses, in my experience.

Re: filter factor, try the web and see if you can find it there. If not, take a shot with a digital camera, and then take a second shot with the same exposure settings but the filter held in front of the lens. Take the image files and compare and contrast on your computer until you can approximate the filter factor.

Not sure how things were done in the days of film, buy the above method should easily tell you what the exposure compensation factor is, if you can’t find the info elsewhere,

Sure this would be easiest way to determine filter facto, it’s just that filter is only 40.5 mm in diameter, don’t really have lenns that small for my digital

Ah, thats no problem at all, who said you needed the full frame of the image :)

You should be able to just hold the filter in front of your lens..

    I use the following:
    Yellow: Add 1 stop
Orange: Add 1 and 2/3rds stops
Light Red (ie 25): Add 2 and 1/2 stops
