Easter processions in Spain

Here are some shots of the Easter procession at my father’s village in Spain (La Puebla de Alfindén, Zaragoza). What should I have done on the last one to avoid the glare on the Virgin’s face? Probably I should have waited for her to go past that light above her… You can see the rest of my pictures of this on

If you have any suggestions on how I could have improved on these, let me know!

    Esther,
I like these. My favourite is the second one. It captures the mood very well and also has a solemn tone to it.
I think the difficulty with number 3 is that there is a lot of contrast – between the darkness on the near side of the hoods and the lamps in the scene. I would have tried to balance the lighting using flash, which would bring up some detail on the people close to the camera. It would also avoid the overexposure on the face of the virgin and the bright areas.

    Regards.

Thanks for the reply Tom! I tend to avoid using the flash, I don’t have an external one to play with, but you’re right, probably would have solved the problem here. When I can I like to take the same shot with and without the flash to see which one I prefer, I usually go for the flashless, but it’s difficult to do in a situation like this!
    All the best
    Esther
