I took these three shots of the inside of the chq building at the Docklands Maritime Festival recently. Which do you like best and why?

    Hi Esther.
#3 for me. The people in it are not cropped so much (except the lady with the buggy) & it looks more relaxed. There is a little bit of perspective correction required as the pillars on the right are leaning. Well done

Thanks a lot miki g! I hadn’t noticed the leaning columns, you’re right!

#3 too. I see where you got an idea for posting these from ;-) and I’d say that the pictures with the people in the first two over complicate the image. in #3 the symmetry is broken by going across the frame and the roof almost frames the people. I agree with Miki’s comments and I’d add that it may help to brighten it.

That’s great, thanks b318isp! Yes, you’re right about where I got the idea from! At the time I took these just because I liked the architecture of the place and also half thinking of the geometry competition, although I sent something different for that. I took these very quickly as I was trying to catch up with my family who have little patience for my photos… I barely edited them too, didn’t pay much attention to the cropping possibilities. As for them being a bit dark that’s always something I tend to do (I kind of like dark photos for some reason) but you’re right, have to get out of that frame of mind a bit, I think. Thanks a mil for the feedback! :D
