This was taken at Prodrift Round 3 at citywest – on sports mode of my canon 1000d, no other specs…

Comments welcome and if possible which mode should i be using for pics such as these?

Very good effort, this something I haven’t done so can’t really comment. Some people would have liked more space in front of the car to give the impression of the car moving into the space . As you can see there are plenty of experts of this type of shots on the forum who can give you real advice. Well done with it.

Use fully manual settings; take a test shot to determine the correct exposure, adjust the exposure time if needed and keep the settings the same for all photos.
    And use continuous focus.

Good effort with the shots, the first would be perfect if the was a little more room on the right.

For drifting shots, slow shutter speeds seem to capture the action and smoke best. I mainly use Tv mode and a shutter speed of around 1/125s or 1/160s for a lot of the shots. Have the camera in AI servo as well. Panning can be difficult from outside the fence, but can be done in most cases.

The blueish tint on the photos in Tv might be the white balance setting changed when going to a manual mode. When it sports mode its probably auto white balance, and when in any of the manual modes its saves the last used option.
