Princess of the Forest

Princess of the forest with a nipple piercing? My parents never told me tales about such beings… :)
Excellent example how the smallest detail can ruin the whole atmosphere of a photograph. If the tree branch was 3 inches lower it would look perfect; the blur, facial expression, pale skin, flowers, everything. But now… either take the photo one more time or try to get rid of it in Photoshop.PS: to write a more unbiased critique I´ve shown the photo to a female photographer and it was the second thing that she noticed.
ShahoffParticipantSo , I agree about this inch long branch , and took it away.
But without piercing photo loosing something…
Look
RASMITH32MemberNo , the Nipple piercing works and is perfectly framed within the branches!. The contrast of the pictures softness against the piercing works really well. Infact the removal removes a lot of the character of the image for me.
Would be interested in hearing how you processed in image?
ShahoffParticipantThe steps are…
Lightroom as Raw converter
ImageMonic Portreiture
Guy Gowan actions for Contrast/color correction

I thought that the photo should show harmony, not contrast.
MartinParticipantMuch prefer the original.
Really like this picture, something different about it not just the piercing.I like the pose, the branches, the dark hair and that green is lovely, works very well with how you have processed the skin. Its a nice one, id be well happy with it well done

The golden words! And piercing is part of this harmony, and photo just became very ordinary without – just simple , lack of harmony :D
ShahoffParticipantshutterbugParticipantPersonally I dont like the piercing, but that is just an aversion to them, I looked
at the picture and thought what a beautiful image until I scrollled down to the piercing
and gut reaction was Yuk! But as I said I dont like them. I think the image looks just
as nice being cropped up above the breast, but I do find that the “leafy” thing in the
foreground is very distracting.miki gParticipantI would be of the same opinion as Shutterbug & don’t like piercings either. I don’t think it adds anything to the image. Personnally, I would go for a square crop to the armpit. The out of focus branch in the foreground however spoils what could be a really brilliant image.
RASMITH32MemberYou are getting drawn into personal tastes here guys. I dont like piercings either but if you remove or just crop above the nipple (why is nipple such a funny word :-) it becomes a very different picture ……..the rawness is lost and it just becomes a nice soft image
JMac-2006ParticipantShahoff,
there is a lot to like about this image; the beautiful model, pose, styling, piercing :) . The composition too is well considered in my opinion.
Couple minor flaws – the strange yellow nail varnish, the small twig at model’s right. The main problem though is that ugly branch in foreground kind of poking at the models neck – this could easily have been removed or eliminated at time of shooting – i imagine not so easily in photoshop.
the square crop would look really well as Miki said except for the offending branch/twigs.
ShahoffParticipantThank you everybody for responds and advices! I really enjoying that my work do not left you indifference :)

Well when I look at it I am 100% sure that the photographer wanted a nice soft image; can there be something nicer and softer than a forest fairy with flowers on her head?
PS: I really like piercings (I myself had a two titanium spikes in my ears before my company recommended me to look more representative :D), just not in this photo (or not on forest princesses in general)
