I use a cheap net book at the moment for surfing the web and I don’t want to fork out cash :D for virus protection, what do you use or what would you recommend.

sure you will get loads of recommendations, i use avast, never had a problem
Is your Netbook running Windows or Linux? I now use Microsoft Security Essentials (Window). It’s free and gets decent reviews although it is not as configurable or robust as the big guys like McAfee or Norton. But coupled with safe browsing practices it should be OK.
I use AVG free I’ve had it installed for years with no problems
I did have norton one time but thought it slowed up the machineAlthough I use Norton at the mo, I used to use AVG free & never had any problems.
Was AVG but now windows security essentials for windows 7. working well so far and no slow down of computer :D
I’ve installed Avast at the moment and will see how it goes. If I have any problems I will try AVG.
