    hello guys and girls (AGAIN)
    i just got my nikon 85mm f1.8 now dont get me wrong its a gr8 lens just 1 tiny little thing when i focus on a subject’s face the eyes could be sharp but the nose would be out a little how do i get around this or am i doing something wrong ?? oh its not on all the photos just some

    change f1.8 to 2.2 or higher :-)

    Yeah, a prime lens wide open can be soft outside the focus point. When it’s intentional it can work a treat, but if you want a wider, sharp area you need to step it down a bit. Most lenses work best a few stops down from their widest aperture. an f/1.8 is usually nice and shapr from f/2.8 onwards, where a f/2.8 might only be sharper at f/4 and narower. that’s where the advantage of an f/1.8 lies.
