This was taken in my back garden last winter. Just love these little guys and so difficult to get a good shot of them. It would have been nicer will a little more room on the LHS but you work with what you can get sometime,

All comments good and bad much appreciated otherwise how can we learn

Canon 40D, EF500, AP – not sure of ISO or sutter Speed. When I find them I will update this post

    Thanks

Lovely shot Michael, I agree with you they dont sit still for a second, just as you
think you have cracked it they are gone :) The colour is good and background perfect
wouldnt worry too much about the space, he is nicely placed in the frame.

Excellent shot Michael. It’s perfect as is for me, lovely detail, sharp, great DOF.
That 500mm really helps to isolate the subject and throw the background OOF.
Wish I had the bobs to rent one of these let alone purchase one………./Mikka

Mikka, you are right the 500 is expensive. I used to sail but wanted to get back to photoing birds so sold my half share in the boat and bought the lens. I have not regretted it once

    Thanks for the comments

    Hi Michael.
This shot is great. Very sharp for a fast & jittery subject too. Nicely isolated from the background. Well done
